GRAVENHURST — John and Denise Cooper are the gift that keeps on giving.
Score 1-1-1 for the local couple who continue to support this community and are doing it again with a $111,000 donation to the Gravenhurst Health Hub.
The Rotary Club of Gravenhurst was thrilled Thursday to announce another generous donation by them to the GHHH — bringing their total to $221,000.
Denise told Rotarians at their luncheon meeting that the major donation was made possible by the transfer of a stock share investment they say is an ideal way for donors this tax season to contribute, as there is no tax on an investment gain and the donor receives a tax credit for the donation.
Before rushing out to do their weekly GAP food delivery run, she also expressed special appreciation to their family physician Dr. Chris Richardson and specialist Dr. Keith Moran “for keeping this old guy going.”
The Rotary Club of Gravenhurst, which is working with the Cottage Country Family Health Team, has now raised more than $1.15 million dollars for the Health Hub.
A tender has been approved for Phase 1 with construction starting March 2.
An additional $53,000 is needed to complete the Phase 2 goal, which is expected to be achieved sometime this summer.
