MUSKOKA — Bob Jacob believes it’s better to give than receive.
The generous Bracebridge philanthropist has done it again.
Donating a second million dollars in shares to the “South Muskoka Memorial Hospital Foundation.”
His latest contribution is for Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare’s southern site “only,” the retired computer worker, investor, developer, cottager, Rotarian and community leader told me.
It follows the same donation he gave the SMMHF last summer.
See that story here.
“This extraordinary gift is not only an investment in equipment, but also an investment in hope and health for our region,” he said then back in August.

‘Bob does it again!’
Not only does Jacob put his money where is mouth is, the Bracebridge Rotary Club recognized him last month for his extraordinary fundraising efforts for them.
For the 16th year in a row he’s been named the club’s top ticket seller.
Chances are you’ve bought a ticket from him — including several prize winners.
Putting him in the rarefied company of former premier and club member Frank Miller who was renowned for carrying around books of tickets, convincing Parry Sound-Muskokans and other MPPs and premiers to buy from him supporting Bracebridge Rotary projects.
“When you buy a ticket you’re investing in the community,” club member Sue Montgomery quoted Jacob when presenting him with the Frank Miller Memorial Trophy.
Jacob often reciprocates by buying tickets from others and matching donations.
Several organizations in Muskoka large and small have benefited from his benevolence.
He is inspired by the philanthropy of his favourite singer Lady Gaga.
Rotarians made sure, while presenting him the Miller trophy, that he received a Gaga mug as a token of appreciation.
