13-DAY RESPIRATORY OUTBREAK OVER AT SMMH’S NORTH WING; 7 PATIENTS, 3 STAFF AFFECTED. VISITORS DOUBLED TO 2 PER DAY

MUSKOKA — Hospital officials say their most recent respiratory outbreak is over as of today, Tuesday Dec. 3.

Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare, says in a release that in consultation with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, that the respiratory outbreak (COVID-19) on North Wing at the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) Site is over.

The outbreak lasted 13 days. And with outbreak management protocols including testing, seven patient cases and three staff cases were attributed to the outbreak.

North Wing at SMMH reopened to visitors today.

And in line with MAHC’s current visiting policy it allows an inpatient to have two visitors per day between 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
