CUTE CHILDRENS CHOIRS UPSTAGE MPO IN WINTER AWAKENING CONCERTS THIS WEEKEND IN MUSKOKA

MUSKOKA — Kids and pets — never share a stage with them.

Least one with cute — not “ugly” — Christmas sweaters.

Where parents and grandparents lined the walls with smartphones.

And toddlers screamed in delight.

Two holiday concerts this weekend were a pleasant tuneful start to the festive season thanks to the childrens choirs from the Muskoka Music Centre in Huntsville and the Monsignor Michael O’Leary Catholic school in Bracebridge.

The young singers livened up the vastly more enjoyable Muskoka Philharmonic’s Winter Awakenings at Huntsville’s St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church Saturday afternoon and at an overflowing Trinity United Church in Gravenhurst 24 hours later.

A bonus was a small MPO choir of their own.

Showing audiences prefer mixed concerts with guests.

The third season of the MPO promises to be their best-sounding so far after their opening weekend.
Combining kids choirs and their own singers was a more appealing option for a crammed crowd Sunday, including a few who were turned away at the door without tickets.
