FEMALE PICKING UP CHILD DURING NOON HOUR AT DAY CAMP CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED DRIVING

HUNTSVILLE Police in Huntsville were busy before and during the Civic Holiday long weekend looking for impaired drivers.

Four drivers were taken of the roadway since July 30.

Including a Huntsville woman picking up a child at a day camp.

On August 2, at 10:32 p.m., police were dispatched to a disturbance on Woods Street in Port Sydney Ontario.

When officers attended they determined one of the persons involved had operated a vehicle while impaired.

As a result of the investigation, police have charged Wesley Gibbs, 36 years old of Port Sydney Ontario with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Take motor vehicle without consent
  • Assault
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Utter threats to cause death or bodily harm
  • Utter threat to cause harm to an animal

Gibbs was held for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge.

The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension.

Earlier in the evening, at 6:30 p.m., police were conducting traffic control around a serious collision at the intersection of Highway 60 at Highway 35 when they observed a vehicle passing 3 vehicles on the right shoulder.

The driver was stopped as it approached the collision scene and the driver was determined to be under the influence of a substance.

Police charged Devin Ruscitti, 23, of Brooklin, Ontario with CC 320.15(1) Failure or refusal to comply with demand.

Ruscitti is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge at a later date.

He, too, was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

In addition to the two impaired drivers during the long weekend, two more impaired drivers were taken of the roadway thanks to concerned citizens reporting the driving behaviour.

On July 30, at 12:48 p.m., officers were dispatched to a local day camp program on Silverwood Drive in the Town of Huntsville.

Day camp impaired driving charge

The report was of a female picking up a child, but staff believed the female to be under the influence of alcohol.

As a result of the investigation, police charged Amanda Seymore, 45, of Huntsville with Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

Seymore was released with a September 2025 court date before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge.

Seymore was also issued a 90 Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Later July 30, at 11:07 p.m., police were dispatched to a report of erratic driving of a vehicle westbound disturbance on Highway 60 in the Town of Huntsville.

Police located the vehicle and observed the same erratic driving. The driver was arrested for impaired driving.

They charged Shamus Noone, 40, of South River, with: Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs; and Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

Noone was released with an August 2025 court date before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge.

He also received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

One of four drivers charged in Huntsville between July 30 and Aug. 2 was a Huntsville woman picking up a child at a day camp during the nooon hour.
