BALA — Another blow to this west Muskoka village today.
The Beer Store said today it is closing its Bala retail store Sept. 28.
The iconic log landmark and cottage stop is one of 11 announced by the independent operator and is among 80 closures since May 2024.
Word sent shock waves through the tiny community.
The LCBO in Bala remains open for some beer sales along with retail, grocery stores and restaurants and bars like The Kee.
The province also reminded consumers that as of Jan. 1 they will be able to return empties to their place of purchase.
The bad news for suds seekers comes as the TD Bank announced this spring it’s tiny branch would no longer be open as of this past spring. After public outcry they extended the closure to November.
