PATIENCE THIS LONG WEEKEND IF YOU’RE DRIVING WEST THROUGH GRAVENHURST

GRAVENHURST — It’s going to be a long Long Weekend for drivers motoring west around the Muskoka Wharf toward Bala and Port Carling.

Residents and cottagers will be happy to find the North Muldrew Lake Road intersection re-paved and contractors laying down asphalt today for the Bay & Beyond redevelopment around the Muskoka Wharf in Gravenhurst.

The east-west James Street detour continues to be jammed up and with cottagers converging on the Muskoka Lakes for the last big Civic Holiday Long weekend of the summer.

The good news is they’ll have to watch out for bike and pedestrian crosswalk connecting the Lions Club’s Leo Trail at the water treatment plant.

Meanwhile, pavers have taken advantage of the heat with all hands on deck.

Hopes are that the main road could open next week after a two-month closure.

Followed by further construction up to Hughson Street by November.

Neighbour Dr. Dave Hillyard is pleased as he does his daily inspection of the progress on the Bay & Beyond redevelopment project.
A welcome sight today was partial completion of the paving on Hwy. 169 West along the Muskoka Wharf.
But be prepared for more stoppages at intersections as work continues till snow flies in November.
The North Muldrew Lake Road intersection is the focus of last minute work this weekend.
