TWO CHARGED AFTER FLOWER BOX DUMPED IN MUSKOKA RIVER IN BRACEBRIDGE

BRACEBRIDGE — A mischief charge has been laid against a 19-year-old Bracebridge man for vandalizing flowers on the Ecclestone Bridge 10 days ago.

Police charged Ryler Smith with damaging the flower pots.

On July 14, at 3:30 a.m., officers conducting patrols of the downtown core in Bracebridge received calls from residents and business owners about mischief in the area.

Police took a look and came upon two individuals walking on Ecclestone Drive, crossing a bridge, one of whom then pushed a wooden planter containing flowers into the river below.

Officers stopped the two and noticed that there were other planters that had been disturbed with the flowers ripped out.

Police arrested and charged Smith with Mischief CC 430(1)(a).

Smith is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice Aug. 20, 2024, to answer his charge. The second individual was charged with an offence under the Liquor Licence and Control Act (LLCA).
