SPEEDER LANDS ON LAWN AND BUSINESS LOSES $2,000 IN ELECTRONICS IN BREAK-IN TUESDAY IN GRAVENHURST

GRAVENHURST — Police were busy here Tuesday after an early morning accident and break and enter report.

A 19-year-old Barrie man was charged July 16 after a single-vehicle collision Gravenhurst on Muskoka Beach Road near Old Muskoka Road.

At 2:50 a.m. south Muskoka officers and Muskoka EMS responded to reports that the vehicle left the roadway and crashed onto a lawn.

Police say the driver was travelling at a relatively high rate of speed in the residential area and after the vehicle came to rest, the driver fled from the scene.

Officers conducted an investigation into the collision and were able to connect with the registered owner of the vehicle, who attended the scene to meet with officers, after collecting the driver.

The G2 driver was charged with Careless Driving and Failing to Remain at a Collision under the Highway Traffic Act.

Thief tries to get in cash drawer

Later in the morning police responded to a break and enter after a call at 9:10 a.m.

Officers responded and learned that sometime overnight between July 15 and 16 a business on Highway 11 north near Luigi Road had been broken in to.

The suspect broke a window to gain entry and after an unsuccessful attempt to enter a cash drawer, made off with electronics valued at approximately $2,000.

Police responded to a vehicle that left the road at 2:50 a.m. Tuesday and and later a break-in near Luigi Road in south Gravenhurst.
