24-hour snowmobile ride to raise money Kelly Shire Foundation Feb. 25-26
MUSKOKA LAKES — Now here’s a real snow day.
After getting snowed out last year, Kelly Shires Foundation is happy the white stuff is back in abundance.
So the Midland-based breast cancer team is attempting a marathon Guinness World Record Challenge Feb 25-26 on Lake Muskoka.
“We attempted last year but couldn’t run the event because of lack of snow,” says spokeperson Nancy Redman.
The event involves a team of four snowmobilers taking turns riding a snowmobile for 24 hours on a dedicated course.
The goal is to beat the existing record which is 3,284.59 km in 24 hours.
“Last year, even though we couldn’t do the run, we raised over $3,000 for the Kelly Shires Foundation,” added Redman Friday.
“Our goal for this year is to increase that to $10,000.”
