KRUGER CRIES FOUL OVER ‘VERY, VERY WRONG DECISIONS,’ SAYS BRACEBRIDGE ‘OUTRAGED’ OVER MAHC MODEL

DWIGHT — Bruce Kruger is Bracebridge’s Town Crier.
And did he have a cry for Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare last night in Dwight at a public meeting on the future of Muskoka’s two hospitals.
He expressed what he and he says others in south Muskoka have said privately and online this week.
“I’m extremely disappointed with what has been taking place.
“But I want to make it very clear. I think the leadership is doing their best. I don’t want anybody to think my comments are personal attacks. Because I think you’re all great people.
“I think you’re making very, very wrong decisions.

“I just got out of the doctor’s office at 3:30 today, with a very bad injury to my back. There’s an extensive letter from all the doctors in our area outraged in regards to what your decisions have been. They feel it’s unfair.
“Most of the town that I’ve been speaking to is outraged.
“If I lived in Gravenhurst I’d be furious. Can you imagine people coming from Barkway, Severn Bridge to have to travel all the way to Huntsville to see their loved ones? How often are they going to do that?
“It’s a pie in the sky right at the moment in regards to the transportation within Muskoka. It’s terrible.
“The big thing — and by the way I want to comment in regards to the obstetrics unit and everything about how it’s going to be so great in Huntsville versus what we’ve had to tolerate in Bracebridge.
“I’ve had one child, 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, all born in Bracebridge. And they’ve all had a tremendous experience with the birth. So we’re doing pretty good, I think, in Bracebridge.
“I spoke about a year-and-a-half ago at the district council chamber in regards to this. We were assured basically, that in fact we were going to get two equal hospitals.
“We’re obviously not.
“We haven’t been kept informed right up until now. And then all of a sudden we’re told that in fact you’re going to be making decisions within two months.
“This can’t go on. Our communities deserve far better in order to have time for you to even understand what we’re upset about.
“So I really hope you take those considerations into mind.
“Thank you.”
