MAN CHARGED WITH TRUCK THEFT AFTER ABANDONING PUPPY IN CHASE

GRAVENHURST — Police are looking for a second suspect after a vehicle chase that ended here Monday afternoon.

They charged one person from London and are looking for another from Windsor after the pair fled a pickup truck, leaving it abandoned in the downtown area with a puppy inside.

They say that on November 20, at 3:30 p.m., the truck sped past a marked police cruiser, which was later located on Caroline Street.

Officers found the abandoned dog after the occupants fled on foot.

Following their investigation they learned the pickup was stolen from the West Elgin area.

Police have charged 23-year-old Jacob Miller, of London, with:

  • Theft of Motor Vehicle – CC 333.1
  • Possession of Prohibited device for Dangerous Purpose CC 88 – x2
  • Carrying Concealed weapon – CC 90
  • Carrying Concealed Prohibited Device or Ammunition – CC 90
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm – CC 91(1)
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm – CC 92(1)
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was Firearm – CC 94
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was prohibited or restricted weapon – CC 9
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of Trafficking – CDSA 5(2) x 4
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 CC 354(1)(a) – x 9

Miller is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge January 23, 2024.

Police also ask the public if you have any information or know the whereabouts of the outstanding party Navida Hoeung, of the Windsor area, to contact south Muskoka OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
