DRIVING ON FLAT TIRE LEADS TO CHARGES OF DISTURBANCE AND ASSAULTING POLICE OFFICER

BRACEBRIDGE — A man driving with a flat tire early Saturday led police to charge him with assaulting the investigating officer after a call from the public.

OPP say that at 2 a.m. they received a report that a vehicle with a blown a tire was continuing to drive on Ecclestone Drive in Bracebridge.

Officers responded to the area and followed a trail left on the asphalt from the rim scraping the road to an address on Milton Street.

There they began an investigation, arresting and charging 18-year-old Mitchell Pate, of Bracebridge.

He faces multiple charges including Causing a Disturbance CC 175(1)(a), Resist Peace Officer CC 129(a), Assault a Peace Officer CC 270(1)(a) and Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm CC 264.1(1)(a) X 2.

Pate is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge Aug. 1, 2023.
