RAMA — Gamblers were surprised to find Casino Rama suddenly closed this afternoon.
The gaming room was shut down as of 1 p.m., a sign read Sunday.
A call to down to them said the cause was “computer related,” and that it had affected all Gateway managed properties including Innisfil.
But not other casinos like Fallsview.
A worker said they hope to be back up and running Monday and will advise on their website and inform workers when to report back for shifts.
One surprised poker player tonight was told if they want to redeem gambling chips they could only cash in $500 worth as that was all that was available this evening.
On their Facebook page a brief statement read: “All Gateway Ontario sites will close due to a system-wide malfunction until further notice,” says the two-sentence statement posted on social media. Casino Rama Resort’s hotel and Weirs restaurant will remain open. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
According to its website, Gateway is one of the largest and most diversified gaming and entertainment companies in Canada with 29 gaming properties in British Columbia and Ontario and two additional properties in Edmonton.
