GRAVENHURST TODDLER DIES AFTER SUFFERING ‘SIGNIFICANT INJURIES’

GRAVENHURST — Police are investigating after a Gravenhurst two-year-old died in hospital at Toronto Saturday after suffering what they are calling “significant injuries” when they responded last Thursday.

They say that on Jan. 5, at 7:45 p.m., officers and paramedics responded to a call for toddler who was reported injured.

The child was transported to hospital in Bracebridge and then transferred to hospital in Toronto, where they succumbed to their injuries on Jan. 7.

The Muskoka Crime Unit is continuing the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), with the assistance of OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario (OCCO) and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OFPS).

Police say there is no threat to public safety.

And that the investigation is complex and more information will be provided as it becomes available.
