HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY MEETING MARCH 15 SHOWS HOW TO GROW NATIVE PLANTS FROM SEED
GRAVEHURST — Time to spring forward … with your garden planning — and planting.
The Gravenhurst Horticultural Society (GHS) resumes its late winter/early spring meeting schedule now that they are able to meet indoors for their regular monthly meetings on the third Tuesday of the month.
This coming week it’s March and as usual at the Gravenhurst Seniors’ Active Living Centre on First Street. Time 7 to 9 p.m.
All are welcome.
This month’s speaker is Laura Thomas, of Hidden Habitat in Kilworthy: www.hiddenhabitat.ca
She will be talking about the basics of how to grow your own native plants from seed, as well as providing tips and tricks that will bring better results.
Thomas will also cover how to responsibly collect seeds, how to store them and how to germinate them indoors and outdoors.
Society members will also set up a ‘seed swap’ table, where members and guests can bring in seeds from home to share and take some new ones home to try.
Refreshments and door prizes will also take place.
If you haven’t renewed your membership as of yet, the fee is only $5 for the rest of 2022 until GHS’s Oct. 31 fiscal year-end, as they work to rebuild membership numbers post-COVID.
Please invite your friends and family to come out, take part and become a member as well.
Follow along for additional society information and garden-related tips and tricks, online on the GHS Facebook page at: www.facebook.com/gravenhursthorticulturalsociety.
It’s an open public page, so you don’t need to sign in or have a Facebook account.
