HUNTSVILLE MAN WHO FLED POLICE PICKED UP TWO DAYS LATER AND CHARGED

HUNTSVILLE — A wanted man who fled a police stop last week was picked up two days later and faces several new charges.

The OPP pulled over a vehicle March 2, arresting the driver and a passenger, both from Muskoka, with drug and weapons charges.

Kali Lebrun, 22, of Bracebridge, and Kathleen van Duzen, 25, of Lake of Bays,

were released from custody March 2 to appear March 29, 2022, in the Ontario Court of Justice Huntsville.

Police say that on March 2 at 7:38 a.m. an OPP officer was on patrol and initiated a traffic stop on West Road.

A passenger in the car they stopped, Taylor Sovereign, was wanted for bail violations. Police say he fled on foot from the car, leaving the driver and one other occupant.

Central Region OPP, Canine Unit with Central Region OPP Emergency Response Team, and Huntsville Detachment members completed a search for the man who was not located.

Taylor Sovereign, 27, of Huntsville was located by OPP and arrested March 4.

He was held for a bail hearing that Friday charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance- crack cocaine contrary to section 4(1) of the Control Drugs and Substances Act.
  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance- cocaine contrary to section 4(1) of the Control Drugs and Substances Act.
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm contrary to section 91(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
  • Possession of a firearm obtained by crime contrary to section 96(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm contrary to section 94 of the Criminal Code of Canada.
  • Possess a firearm while prohibited from doing so contrary to section 1117.01(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
  • Did escape from lawful custody contrary to section 145(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
  • Two counts of failure to comply with conditions of release order, contrary to section 145(5) (a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
  • The investigation is ongoing
