DISTRICT TAKING OVER FAIRVERN LTC JUNE 30, WITH 160-BED REDEVELOPMENT BY 2025

HUNTSVILLE — Muskoka’s second district-run LTC will become official June 30.

Fairvern Nursing Home operations, which have been run by a private board, will come under District of Muskoka management in four months.

Fairvern’s board and the district have been working on the deal for several years to support its redevelopment into a new 160-bed facility, which is expected to be complete in 2025.

Fairvern currently operates as a non-profit 76-bed long-term care facility, and the transition of the home’s operations is an important milestone in the redevelopment journey, says a release Wednesday from the district.

Fairvern families and staff will be invited to participate in planning sessions in March and April, and a community information session will be held later this spring to provide public updates on the redevelopment project.
