4 COVID PATIENT CASES REPORTED IN SOUTH WING OF HUNTSVILLE HOSPITAL THURSDAY

HUNSTVILLE — A COVID patient outbreak in the south wing of the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital has been reported.

Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) said last night that four patients tested positive for COVID-19 and the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has placed the wing under “unit-specific COVID-19 outbreak status.”

MAHC says in its release Thursday, Jan. 6, that testing of patients and staff is occurring as part of outbreak management protocols.

And enhanced cleaning practices are underway to limit the spread.

“Visiting restrictions are in place for south wing at the Huntsville site only, but further restrictions may follow,” says interim CEO Vickie Kaminski.

“We want to remind designated care partners who are visiting their loved ones at either (hospital) site of the importance of wearing their mask at all times while they visit.”

The south wing of Huntsville’s hospital was placed under “unit-specific COVID-19 outbreak status” by the health unit Thursday, Jan. 6.
