CITIZENS CONFRONT DRIVER CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED; POLICE INVESTIGATE DAMAGE ON HIGH FALLS ROAD

BRACEBRIDGE — A man suspected of being impaired was confronted by group of citizens who were trying to stop the motorist from leaving when police arrived.

The incident occurred Thursday, Dec. 16, on  Manitoba Street near Mary Street, just before 10 p.m.

Police arrested and charged 26-year-old Blair Laing, of Muskoka Lakes Twp., with Impaired Operation CC 320.14(1)(a).

Laing’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded.

He is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on February 9, 2022 to answer to his charges.

Police were also called to a dispute earlier in the day when they say officers responded to several 911 calls from individuals involved in a dispute at an address on High Falls Road in Bracebridge at 3:20 p.m., during which there was damage to property.

Officers arrived and de-escalated the situation.

Police say no charges have been laid at this time as the investigation continues with the assistance of the Muskoka Crime Unit.
