12 UNVACCINATED COVID CASES TODAY IN SIMCOE — NONE IN MUSKOKA
Mark Clairmont | MuskokaTODAY.com
SIMCOE-MUSKOKA — A dozen unvaccinated people in the region yesterday tested positive for COVID-19.
Two more residents with the vaccine also tested positive.
All of them live in Simcoe.
None of them were from Muskoka.
This as the province tested 36,404 Ontarians yesterday with a positivity rate of 1.7 per cent.
As the battle for vaccinations intensifies Simcoe-Muskoka’s health unit is reporting 14 COVID cases.
They bring to 13,485 the number of people who have contracted the coronavirus — 13,088 of whom have had their cases resolved.
That includes 260 who have died.
With only 74.6 per cent of eligible residents vaccinated once; and 69.4 per cent twice.
There are 137 active cases and 103 active virus cases.
Today’s numbers highlight the good, the bad and ugly of the deadly disease.
And the rotten apples spoiling the bushels.
A day before hundreds of thousands of Canadians will gather outside on Orange Shirt day to recognize residential school, ’60s Scoop survivors, case counts — even low ones locally — remain a real concern.
School kids will remember ‘Every Child Counts’ in official events.
Most will be masked — but not all.
Half of them — those under 11 — will be unvaccinated.
Some of their parents won’t be either.
Fortunately most will be vaccinated if not masked.
This as Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) union members backed down today and will provide vaccination proof as part of a mandatory vaccine policy.
And some health care workers remain reluctant.
