40 CASES IN SIMCOE FRIDAY, AS CBC REPORTS ONTARIO PLANS VACCINE PASSPORT AFTER ALL

SIMCOE-MUSKOKA — Forty new cases in Simcoe show the growing extent of the coronavirus as the greater public clamour for vaccinations becomes deafening — defining and more dividing.
This as CBC late Friday afternoon reported that Premier Doug Ford has reversed himself on vaccine passports and that the province will institute one to be announced next week.
That’s as on the campaign trail today Justin Trudeau said if re-elected the Liberals would provide $1 billion for provinces to set up vaccine passports.
Ford had been strongly opposed to them having said Ontarians vaccinated already have pieces of paper proving they are fully vaccinated and that there was no need for official government documents that he claimed would divide Ontario in to have and have nots.
The cases bring the weekly tally to 114.
Thursday last there were 85 cases in the weekly Sunday to Thursday accounting by the regional health unit.
That’s as 8 people remain in hospital and 182 cases remain active.
Those cases reflect provincial numbers — predictions and modelling — that on Friday saw 781 people test positive along with 17 deaths (14 carried over in catch-up reporting).
It’s the same in Quebec, where after positive results this summer they are following the same trend with 612 cases.
That despite the optimism of a vaccine app, which saw the ones used by provincial MLAs hacked through Q-codes that revealed some private health information including vaccine status.
Dividing the country further is Erin O’Toole whose Conservatives prefer to let the people decide for themselves — now and Sept. 20.
This as 306 Ontarians are in hospital and 128 in ICUs.
Yesterday 36,195 vaccines were distributed province-wide as part of 20.6 million to date (83 per cent for those age 12+ once and 75.5 per cent with two shots among all Ontarians).
The province has ordered businesses to have vaccine protocols to cope with COVID-19.
Meanwhile, Health Canada has approved a Moderna vaccine for kids 12-17.
