BRACEBRIDGE DRIVER CHARGED AFTER PASSENGER AIRLIFTED TO HOSPITAL

MUSKOKA LAKES — A Bracebridge driver faces four charges including fleeing the scene of an accident after an occupant was airlifted to Toronto with serious injuries late Friday.

Police say officers, along with Muskoka EMS and Muskoka Lakes Fire Department, responded to a single vehicle crash after 911 calls from people in the area of Milford Bay Road just west of Butter and Egg Road in Muskoka Lakes Township on Aug. 20 at 11:40 p.m.

They say one occupant of the vehicle was trapped and had to be extricated by firefighters.

He was transported to a Toronto hospital where he is being treated for life-altering injuries.

Police say the driver fled the scene and was located at a nearby residence.

Steven Brazier, 29, was charged with:

  • Impaired Operation Causing Bodily Harm CC 320.13(2)
  • Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle CC 320.14(1)(a),
  • Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b)
  • And Fail to Stop at Accident Resulting in Bodily Harm CC 320.16(2).

Brazier is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge Sept. 28, 2021.

Brazier’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days.

A passenger had to be extricated from a vehicle late Friday after a single-vehicle accident in Milford Bay near Butter and Egg Road. The driver who fled was later arrested and charged with impaired driving.
