SOCCER SEASON ENDS AS HARDBALL HORNETS HOST DOUBLE-HEADER SATURDAY

GRAVENHURST — ’Tis the seasons to end soccer and kick off Blue Jays-style baseball.

Tim Bits celebrated their final week of a month-long play Wednesday evening with mini-tournament and family picnic at The Wharf.

Pint-sized footballers finished up an abbreviated season with everyone in the mixed little league walking away with a medal befitting the Olympics and a cool, red soccer ball hat.

Judah Byrne, 7, and brother Knox, 4, were among the future World Cuppers who cooled off at the splash pad after with their parents and pappa.

Meanwhile, around the corner on the James Street ball diamond, the Muskoka Hornets return to the mound — just like the Blue Jays tonight — as they take on the Bradford Storm at the diamond for a double-header for the 11-and-under team.

Game 1 is at 1 p.m. and Game 2 is scheduled for 4 p.m.

Coach Corey Boyd said at practice Wednesday the Hornets have already been on the field — practising and playing — including a tournament last weekend in Bracebridge where they were above .500 in the three-day mini-marathon.
