20-YEAR-OLD NOVICE DRIVER CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED DRIVING

GRAVENHURST — A novice driver faces four charges — including impaired driving — after being stopped in the middle of the night today.

Police on patrol here on Bethune Drive south at 2:20 a.m. Jan. 12 stopped a car for a traffic infraction.

They say the man was driving while prohibited.

As a result of their investigation, Sheldon Burry, 20, was charged with:

  • Operation while Prohibited under the Criminal Code
  • Driving while under Suspension
  • Novice Driver- Blood Alcohol Concentration above zero
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The vehicle was towed and will remain impounded for 45 days.

Burry is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge March 23, 2021.
