5 MUSKOKA RESIDENTS WITH COVID MONDAY, 116 IN SIMCOES

SIMCOE-MUSKOKA — Week one of red zone restrictions begins with five COVID cases in Muskoka and 116 in the Simcoes —as the a care giver in Toronto and an LTC resident in Quebec are the first to get the corona vaccine today.

Figures for the past three days just posted this afternoon show:

  • A Bracebridge man over age 80 is under investigation;
  • 2 Gravenhurst residents age 65-79 include a female with close contact; and a male who is also under investigation;
  • 2 Huntsville residents — a man and woman — 80+ years with close contacts.

This as reports 1,940 cases and 23 deaths.

Quebec, meanwhile, says 1,640 cases and 25 deaths.

Manitoba’s respective numbers are 241 and 9.

Back in Simcoe and Muskoka the annual toll is 2,584, with 2,155 recovered, 15 in hospital and 54 dead.

With the first vaccines being given in Toronto, Quebec City and the U.S., health experts continue to emphasize masks must still be worn – notably now that Simcoe and Muskoka are in the red zone for at least the next 28 days over Christmas and New Year’s.
