MUSKOKA — As COVID numbers soar nationwide, a Huntsville woman over age 80 is under investigation after testing positive the past two days.
The health unit reports today 46 cases in the region, most in Essa (11) and Bradford-West Gwillimbury (15).
They are among 1,575 today in Ontario and 1,365 in Quebec.
And Manitoba, with 474 cases today faces a wide-ranging province-wide lockdown.
Meanwhile, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit is also seeing a slight uptake in line with projections this week by its medical officer of health.
Dr. Charles Gardner said Tuesday that the region could hit 3,000 coronavirus cases before the end of the year if numbers like today continue.
After reporting 17 cases two days ago, Thursday’s Nov. 12 numbers are up to a 23 per day average.
Gardner said the key number to watch is the trajectory of per 100,000 per week cases.
Simcoe and Muskoka have a combined 1,604 cases this year.
