MUSKOKA ROYALE COLLEGE PLAN DEFERRED FOR MORE STUDY

BRACEBRIDGE — An application to amend the town’s official plan and rezone lands for a private school was deferred last night.

After an almost five-hour planning and development committee meeting that wrapped up about 7 p.m., council members sent the matter of the Muskoka Royale College back to staff.

Town senior planner Jeremy Rand, who presented the latest report, said in an email this morning to MuskokaTODAY.com that the committee did not amend the motion to defer as presented by staff.

Comments were received for consideration only.

So now he and other town planning staff will pour through the hours of verbal comments and presentations and report back.

Many, including residents of Stephens Bay Road Association and a group called South Bracebrige Environmental Protection Group called for a Ontario Wetland Environmental Study (OWSE).

This was the second public meeting.

A virtual planning and development meeting went well past 6 p.m. last night and led to a deferral for more study on a controversial proposed private school and summer camp near the shores of Lake Muskoka.
