DRIVER HITS ROCK CUT, GETS CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED

GRAVENHURST ­­­– A Kitchener driver who hit a rock cut has been charged with impaired driving early this morning.

On Friday Aug. 28 at 4:30 a.m. OPP got a 911 call officers from a transport truck who said he struck debris on Hwy. 11 northbound, just south of Luigi Road in Gravenhurst.

He said it caused damage to his vehicle.

Emergency crews arrived and discovered the source of the debris was a northbound vehicle that had left the roadway and struck a rock cut.

The driver was taken to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police have charged 19-year-old Shaheen Karimi with Operation While Impaired CC 320.14(1)(a) and Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b).

He is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge Nov. 3, 2020.

As usual, his driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded.

Emergency crews found a vehicle that had hit a rock cut near Luigi Road in Gravenhurst and the driver was taken to hospital and police charged him with impaired driving after the 911 call at 4 a.m. Aug. 28.
