$300,000 WATERFRNT FIRE IN HUNTSVILLE MONDAY MORNING

HUNTSVILLE A $300,000 fire late yesterday morning had firefighters from stations in Huntsville and Port Sydney responding to heavy smoke and flames at a waterfront property.

The Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department says the structure fire on Camp Newport Road was called in at 11 a.m.

Fire prevention officer Mike Vadlja says in a relese that when crews from Huntsville Station 1 and Port Sydney Station 3 arrived they saw the roof on fire.

He says it was quickly extinguished, but the building sustained extensive damage to the interior and structure, with damage he estimated at $300,000.

The fire is not deemed suspicious, says Vadlja, and the investigation into the cause is ongoing.

Firefighters found flames and smoke coming from the roof when they arrived at a structure fire June 6 on Camp Newport Road.
