UPDATE: BOATING ACCIDENT VICTIM IDENTIFIED
MUSKOKA LAKES — Police are continuing to investigate the death Sunday of a Toronto man, who was involved in an accident with a personal water craft.
On July 16 police identified Michael Cohen, 58, as the victim.
They say the investigation is ongoing and the names of the involved parties are being withheld.
On July 5, just before noon, the OPP were called to the collision on Lake Muskoka involving a personal water craft and a human powered vessel near Beaumaris, between Bracebridge and Port Carling.
Reports say the other vessel involved was either a kayak or a rowing scull.
The Bracebridge OPP Marine Unit, OPP Aviation Services, Muskoka Emergency Medical Services and the Muskoka Lakes Fire Department attended the area near the Seven Sisters Islands to investigate the collision and search for the involved the watercraft.
The victim was located by the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit later Sunday evening.
Anyone with information is asked to call Bracebridge OPP at (888) 310-1122 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Police are looking for any witnesses or anyone with information about this incident to come forward as well as anyone with video surveillance of the lake in that area.
