FISHING FUN SIMPLE PLEASURE THAT MADE MUSKOKA

MUSKOKA — Muskoka rocks!

If you’re a fisher for sure.

Rock bass are one of the district’s top catches if you’re a fisher — or fish person.

With free fishing the next two weeks you, too, can be catch “a big one.”

Muskoka has been renowned as a fishing destination for more than a century and it helped birth tourism.

From Indigenous campgrounds to Pittsburgh cottages, fish fries have been a staple of life in this area of Central Ontario.

And so it remains, with idyllic lakes and conditions from Georgian Bay to the Kawarthas, Orillia to almost North Bay.

Algonquin Park wouldn’t be the same without fishing.

So, get out and cast a line (cheap fishing poles are just as fun).

It’s a casual sport you can do — now even while social distancing.

No need for a licence or Outdoors Card till July 19.

And don’t forget to catch and release.

Enjoy Muskoka!

There’s nothing like fishing at sunset – and keeping your social distance, as this fond of fishing couple passing through Gravenhurst did this week at the Muskoka Wharf.
The “Fishing Magician” briefly holds a lovely little rock bass while catching and releasing.
