Bail offender charged with numerous drug offences

ORILLIA — An Orillia man out on bail faces several new drug-related charges after a police raid here Wednesday.

McGinn faces numerous charges after a police raid on Wednesday April 4.

Provincial police say that on April 4, 2018, the OPP’s Orillia Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), the Orillia OPP Crime Unit, Central Region Canine (K9) and Central Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) executed a search warrant in the City of Orillia.

They say that during the search, police seized a quantity of fentanyl and cocaine.

As a result, Steven Tyler McGinn, 26, was arrested and charged with:

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 Contrary to Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC);

Fail to Comply with Recognizance of Bail contrary to Section 145(3) of the CC;

Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Fentanyl contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA);

Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Schedule I Substance contrary to Section 5(2) of the CDSA;

Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Schedule I Substance contrary to Section 5(2) of the CDSA;

Possession of Schedule I Substance contrary to Section 4(1) of the CDSA;

Possession of a Schedule I Substance contrary to Section 4(1) of the CSDA; and with

Possession of Schedule I Substance contrary to Section 4(1) of the CDSA.

McGinn was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody. He is scheduled to appear on April 9, 2018 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie.
