TEENS CAUGHT WITH DRUGS, HANDGUN ON HWY. 400

SEVERN Three teens face drug and firearms charges after being stopped on Hwy. 400 Saturday.

Provincial police say that on March 7 an Orillia OPP officer was conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 400 when a vehicle was stopped for a traffic infraction.

While police were speaking with the occupants of the vehicle a subsequent drug investigation took place and police located a the drugs psilocybin and cocaine in the vehicle, along with a handgun.

As a result, the teens aged 15, 17 and 19 were charged with:

Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon Contrary to Section 91(1) of the Criminal Code;

Possession of a Loaded Firearm Contrary to Section 95(a) of the Criminal Code;

Possession of a Schedule III Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking Contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The 15 year old youth was also charged with:

Trafficking in a Controlled Substance Contrary to Section 5(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act; and Possession of a Schedule II Substance Contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The two youths in this matter were held in custody and released on a Justice of the Peace Undertaking with a court appearance of April 09, 2020 at the Ontario Youth Court of Justice, Orillia.

The adult was also held in custody and released on a Justice of the Peace Undertaking and is set to appear next on April 06, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice, Orillia.

Police pulled over the vehicle with the three teens last Saturday following a traffic infraction.
