GRAVENHURST — All the winter fun will be centred on the main street this Family Day weekend at the Gravenhurst Winter Carnival.

Skokie says so.

From Friday 5 p.m. Skokie birthday party at the Muskoka Discovery through Saturday’s main street events and Muskoka Wharf fireworks to Sunday’s demo derby there’s plenty for young and old.

With most events focused on the blocks between Chuck’s Road House and Sawdust City Brewing on Muskoka Road.

Including games, activities at the Library, Ice Carving, Maple Taffy, Nail Driving — and of course Skokie and Street Buskers wandering around and performing short street shows.

  • Winter Carnival buttons are free for kids 5 and under; $5 for kids up to 16 and $10 for adults.

  • Some events also may have a small fee to take part.

FRIDAY:

  • It starts with face painting, horse-drawn wagon rides and a magic show at 5:30 p.m. at the Discovery Centre. Bring the kids … tell them ‘There will be cake!’

SATURDAY:

  • Saturday morning wake up for the famous Lions Pancake Breakfast 8-10 a.m. — this year at the Curling Club on John Street behind Sawdust.
  • Then it’s fun for all ages the morning and afternoon.
  • Including the Dog Dash at 10 a.m.
  • Snowmobile Puddle Jumping 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Gull Lake Rotary Park
  • Opening Ceremonies 11 a.m.
  • Kennel Club Demo and Dog Rally Course 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • All You Can Eat Poutine $15 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oar Restaurant
  • Bingo Game noon Curling Club
  • Try Curling 1-3 p.m. Curling Club
  • 2 p.m. Donut Eating
  • Wing-Eating Competition 3-4:30 p.m. Frosty Pint Restaurant
  • Olympic Watch Party 1-3 p.m. Curling Club
  • Fireworks 6 p.m. Muskoka Wharf
  • Dance Sawdust City Saturday night $5

SUNDAY:

  • Free public skating Community Centre Graeme Murray Arena noon-12:50 p.m.
  • Demolition Derby Severn Bridge Fairgrounds 2 p.m.
