WEAPONS CALL IN HUNTSVILLE LAST NIGHT LEADS TO ASSAULT WITH HANDGUN, IRON BAR CHARGES

HUNTSVILLE A Huntsville man was in bail court this morning charged with brandishing a handgun and iron bar in an alleged assault here early last night.

Police reported today that on Monday, February 9, at 6:45 p.m. officers received a 911 weapons call at a residence on Main Street West in Huntsville.

Their investigation determined the accused went to the male victim’s apartment and a dispute took place between them.

The accused allegedly brandished both a handgun and an iron bar, said police.

There were no injuries reported.

The accused was taken into custody without incident.

As a result of the investigation Robert Iwanow, 39, of Huntsville, is charged with:

  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Failure to Comply with Undertaking
  • Pointing a Firearm
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

Iwanow was held in custody and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice  today, February 10.

OPP in Huntsville say this was an isolated incident and there was no threat to public safety.

There were no injuries or danger to the public last night during an armed assault in Huntsville, police said today.
