HUNTSVILLE — A string of serious charges including armed robbery and home invasions have been added to another suspect who was in bail court yesterday after a Muskoka-wide incident that closed Hwy. 11 in Gravenhurst last summer.
Police have captured an eighth person who has been arrested and charged in connection with a home invasion in the Hillside area, east of Huntsville.
This as they continue to search for additional suspects. They didn’t say how many.
On Canada Day, Tuesday July 1, shortly before 5 a.m., officers responded to reports of an armed home invasion at a private residence in the Hillside area.
As the situation developed, the investigation extended beyond the original location, prompting the closure of Highway 11 in both directions between Severn River Road and Coopers Falls Road, and between Canning Road and Graham Road.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, Median Jackson, 32, of Brampton, was charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
- Robbery using firearm (restricted or prohibited), section 344(1)(a) – three counts
- Kidnapping while using firearm – confine, section 279(1.1)(a.1)
- Forcible confinement, section 279(2) – two counts
- Assault with a weapon, section 267(a)
- Pointing a firearm, section 87
- Firearm – use while committing offence, section 85(1)(a)
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, section 88
- Theft of a motor vehicle, section 333.1
- Conspiracy to commit indictable offence, section 465(1)(c)
Jackson remains in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.
Investigators believe additional suspects, who may be armed and dangerous, remain at-large. The OPP urges the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activity to police.
The Huntsville detachment OPP Crime Unit is continuing the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.
