GRAVENHURST MAN, 43, CHARGED WITH CHILD PORNOGRAPHY RELATED OFFENSES

GRAVENHURST — Police say a local resident faces child pornography charges following a late fall investigation by the Muskoka Crime Unit.

They say today that in November 2025, the MCU began a child pornography investigation and on Friday, December 19, 2025, executed a search warrant at a residence located on McEachern Lane in the Town of Gravenhurst.

During the search, officers, with the support of the OPP Digital Forensic Unit (DFU) and the OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Unit (CSEU), seized several electronic devices for examination.

As a result, last Wednesday, February 4, 2026, police arrested and charged Benjamin Jon Murdoch Scheetz, 43, of Gravenhurst with the following:

  • Imports, distributes, sells or possesses for the purpose of distribution or sale of child sexual abuse and exploitation material X2
  • Possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material
  • Access any child sexual abuse and exploitation material X2

Scheetz was released at a bail hearing and is now scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.

Benjamin Jon Murdoch Scheetz, 43, of Gravenhurst, was arrested, charged and released on bail to appear back in court in March 3, 2026, to face child pornography related offenses.
