BRACEBRIDGE — A pair of thefts this month from the Sportsplex has police on the lookout for a suspect here.
The OPP is investigating the two separate — but possibly related — incidents of theft here on Clearbrook Trail Bracebridge with odd circumstances.
On Monday January 5, between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. an unknown male party entered a locker room at the community centre and stole a user’s wallet from inside a locked locker.
The victim’s banking cards were utilized a short time later at the Walmart store located on Depot Drive.
The suspect then placed the stolen wallet at the victim’s banking institution (without the bank cards).
On Friday January 16, also between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., also at the Sportsplex, an unknown male suspect was able to access another patron’s stored items and stole the victim’s bag including the wallet.
Again, the victim’s banking cards were utilized a short time later at the Walmart store located on Depot Drive.
The suspect again then placed the stolen belongings at that victim’s banking institution (without the bank cards).
Officers are continuing to collect evidence, including nearby surveillance footage, and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect.
