LETTER: 5 POINTS TO HELP ‘CARNEY’S SOLID WORDS’ PRODUCE SOLID ACTIONS FOR CANADA
LETTER TO EDITOR:
I think Canadians are ready for some strong medicine and solutions of action.
We have 40 million people and an immense pool of resources.
- Remove interprovincial barriers.
- Build pipelines.
- Cut the size of government and reduce taxes.
- Get rid of supply side management.
I think Donald Trump keeps mentioning the last, not because he really hates it.
But because he thinks we will fight like hell to keep it (Dave Simpson says it is 8 Liberal seats in Quebec). Therefore we will give up on other points.
- Build a really strong military (John Jury has been on this for years).
If we do not have a strong military quickly, sooner or later we will become a U.S. Protectorate — if not the 51st state.
Mark Carney has said solid words. Now it is time for solid action.
The above are five points. I have learned over the years that you can only execute up to five.
You can’t do more than five over five years.
Maybe there are better ones than these five, but these would be a good start.
I fear the concerns over Quebec on most of these points will mean we may do little on them.
But I think if Carney moved on them, Canadians and Quebecers would support action.
We are in the mood to follow sound leadership.
