HUNTSVILLE — The owner of a vehicle who reported stolen early yesterday afternoon was giving details to police when the officer observed drive past them.

On Monday, December 29, at 12:16 p.m., police were called to a business on Main Street West in Huntsville.

A short time later, while speaking with the owner of the vehicle, the officer observed the vehicle drive westbound past their location.

While attempting to pull the vehicle over, the driver refused to stop and continued onto the south bound ramp onto Highway 11.

Police say the driver continued to be “erratic and swerving on the highway” before it was soon brought to a safe stop with the assistance of additional officers.

As a result of the investigation, Sanna Jansson, 27, of Huntsville, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – Alcohol / Drugs
  • Fight from Police
  • Theft of Motor Vehicle

Jansson was released and is to appear in February 2026 before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge.

And also issued a 90-day administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension, while the stolen vehicle was returned to the owner.

Police chased a stolen vehicle from Main Street West Street onto Hwy. 11 Monday afternoon before multiple officers helped stop the fleeing driver before issuing multiple charges including impaired operation and releasing the accused to appear in court.
