HUNTSVILLE DRIVER CHARGED WITH DRUG, ALCOHOL IMPAIRMENT AFTER CRASHING THROUGH HWY. 11 GUARD RAIL IN PORT SYDNEY

PORT SYDNEY After a man was spotted fleeing an accident on an on ramp to Hwy. 11 last week, police received phone calls of a suspicious male in the area.

Just after 7 p.m., November 24, the OPP received a call reporting a pickup truck involved in a collision at the on ramp from South Mary Lake Road to Highway 11 northbound.

Witnesses reported seeing the driver leaving the scene on foot after crashing through a metal guard rail.

Police eventually located the driver and determined he was impaired.

Ryan Hatton, 39, of Huntsville, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Fail to remain at the scene of collision
  • Fail to Report Accident

Hatton was released and is to appear in January 2026 before the Ontario Court of Justice.

He was also issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The pickup truck crashed through a metal guard rail on the on ramp from South Mary Lake Road to Highway 11 northbound.
