BRACEBRIDGE — Three suspects wanted in a $3,500 liquor store theft in Huntsville were arrested within hours Wednesday night after police spotted them parked near another LCBO outlet in Bracebridge, which officers believed could have been a potential second target.

Ontario Provincial Police say the theft occurred Wednesday, Dec. 17, when three suspects allegedly stole nearly $3,500 worth of alcohol from an LCBO in Huntsville.

“Given the nature of the theft, officers conducted proactive patrols of LCBO locations in the area,” OPP said in a release.

As part of those patrols, Bracebridge OPP focused on the LCBO outlet on Muskoka Road 118 West. At about 9:45 p.m., officers located a suspect vehicle in a nearby strip mall parking lot, along with three individuals believed to be connected to the earlier theft.

“One of the suspects attempted to flee on foot but was quickly arrested,” police said.

The remaining two suspects fled the area in the vehicle but returned several hours later. At approximately 3 a.m. Thursday, officers again located the vehicle and took the two remaining suspects into custody without incident.

“Officer diligence and continued patrols led to the safe arrest of all involved,” OPP said.

No injuries were reported.

All three accused were held in custody for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on Thursday, Dec. 18.
