SPECIAL REMEMBRANCE CONCERT SATURDAY AFTERNOON NOV. 8 COMMEMORATES ‘CANADA’S WAR HEROES’ AT RENE CAISSE THEATRE IN BRACEBRIDGE

BRACEBRIDGE — Take a moment to remember “Canada’s Heroes” at a special concert this Saturday afternoon to commemorate and honour the many people who have been impacted by war, those who have served and continue to serve our country.

Join the Muskoka Concert Band, with special guests the Muskoka Men of Song, for their annual Remembrance Concert.

The Muskoka Concert Band and the Muskoka Men of Song will present Canada’s Heroes, Saturday, November 8th at 2:30 pm at the Rene M. Caisse Memorial Theatre in Bracebridge.

Proceeds from the concert will go to the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund.

The concert includes a retrospective of  the role of our Canadian heroes through the years from 1914 to the present.

The band will play Vimy Ridge, a march by Thomas Bidgood, and The Men of Dieppe by Muskoka’s own Steve Michell as reminders of two significant Canadian battles from the First and Second World Wars.

The haunting music of Hymn to the Dawn, by Kimberly Archer, speaks of the hope for calm and peace.

While D.A. Pope’s moving arrangement of Nightfall in Camp that incorporates the hymn tune Lead Kindly Light and the Last Post, featuring Neil Barlow, honours those lost in war.
The Muskoka Men of Song will perform two beautiful selections that offer reflection with For the Fallen, by Mike Sammes.

And they’ll sing a special arrangement by Ken Veitch for the Muskoka Men of Song of The Gift, by Frank Wildhorn.
The concert band adds a nod to the many talented men and women who helped entertain the troops with Gilbert Tinner’s arrangement of the Cole Porter standard, I’ve Got You Under My Skin.

They will also present James Hosay’s regal homage to the Washington Viet Nam memorial, Black Granite, a moving processional that honours the many men and women who served.

They will end the concert with Mykola Lysenko’s beautiful Prayer for Ukraine.
