BRACEBRIDGE — Four third period goals propelled the South Muskoka Bears to a solid 4-1 win over the Huntsville Otters Saturday — lifting them to sixth spot and two points ahead of their Muskoka rival in the PJHL division standings.
The solid final frame scoring came after a scoreless two periods of play that included five goals — only one of which came from the stick of a visiting player.
After an unusual 40 minutes of scoreless play with neither team sharp, Sam Litt lit up Huntsville’s net beating Darian Willis inside his left post at 5:42.
The pass came from Tyler Lasitz who then slipped one past Willis at 10:11 on Willis’s same glove side for a two-goal lead.

The Otters’ Ben Power finally beat Kyle Downey on the power play at 15:18 with Dylan Hendrick off a second time for tripping.
But Kevin Demeules quickly replied with a steal inside the offensive zone and an unassisted goal deking Willis.
Huntsville pulled Willis late allowing an empty net for Ethan Boyes to put away the game 4-1 with just over two minutes to go at 17:57.
The Bears out shot Huntsville 42-41.
South Muskoka was called for four minor penalties, while the Otters had three minors plus two for head-contact against Rhett McFarlane that led to a 10-minute major at 19:11 of the first.
The Bears are 6-12-2 in 20 games, for 14 points.
The Otters are 5-13 om 18 games, for 10 points.
The Bears’ next action is in Penetang Friday where the Kings are in fourth place; and then home to first place Alliston Saturday.
