POPPIES FREE — BUT DONATIONS ALWAYS WELCOME TO HELP LEGION VETERANS PROGRAMS THIS WEEKEND AS REMEMBRANCE DAY NOV. 11 DAYS AWAY

MUSKOKA — With four days to Remembrance Day, Royal Canadian Legion members are out this weekend giving away free poppies.

But if you’d like to donate to help them with their veterans programs they always welcome support.

Cash and coins, which typically fill their boxes, are being supplemented with credit or debit tap cards at the poppy boxes that will be out at locations across Muskoka and being carried by legion members.

One tap is $5 and multiple taps are also welcome.

That helps those who have to scramble for cash or coins and often don’t even have either.

They also have paper poppy stickers for kids.

If you don’t have any money or card, you can still ask for a poppy and catch them at another location.

Including at stores and other retail locations.

The legion members will be out across the district with the distinctive poppies.

And as usual …. there’s still no guarantee the pins will stay in.

If not the veterans will be happy to give you a replacement.

And see you at any community Remembrance Day.

They are always held at cenotaphs at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month either downtown or at legion branches.
