GRAVENHURST — Matt Hammersley got more than a heaping plate of great red spaghetti last night at a dinner at St. Paul’s Catholic Church.

The 7-year-old Bradford boy got a big hug from his grandmother, Sonja, when he pulled her ticket on a winning door prize at the church fundraiser.

She kidded him after saying: “You should help me buy 6/49 tickets.”

His dad laughed, adding he could see his mom’s name on the ticket he was pulling out when organizer Mary Ann Goheen offered him a bowl with all the tickets.

When she announced the winner the 90 church members let out a huge round of applause for Matt and his family who are cottagers from Bradford.

The prize was a huge gift basket with wines, crackers and some sweets.

It was part of an annual dinner to help with church finances.
