NOVICE DRIVER CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED VEHICLE OPERATION TODAY
HUNTSVILLE — Police say they are always looking for criminal driving behaviour.
Overnight today, September 30, at 12:24 a.m. officers patrolling Main Street West say they observed pick-up truck driving erratically and well below the posted speed limit.
Once the vehicle was stopped as part of a sobriety traffic stop, the officer detected an odour of alcohol and suspected the driver had alcohol in his body. The driver provided a roadside alcohol screening sample and registered a fail.
As a result of the investigation, Mitchel Yearly, 25, of Huntsville was charged with:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero
- Driver – fail to properly wear seat belt
Yearly was released and is to appear on November 4, 2025 before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge.
He was also issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
