HUNTSVILLE MAN ARRESTED AND CHARGED TWICE TODAY IN SEPARATE INCIDENTS

HUNTSVILLE A Huntsville man is to appear in bail court tomorrow morning after being arrested and charged twice today in separate incidents.

Police say that on September 18 he was involved in a shoplifting incident at the Freshmart in Port Sydney Ontario where alcohol and other food items were stolen.

He was identified Tuesday, September 30, and arrested and charged.

The suspect was released from custody with a pending court date at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge Ontario.

Later in the day today, September 30, at 2 p.m. officers responded to a report of a male brandishing a weapon thought to be a knife, in the area West Road in Huntsville.

The investigation revealed the suspect to be the same male arrested and released earlier in the day.

Although the suspect’s behaviour was aggressive, no members of the public were injured.

Witnesses provided valuable information and as a result of the investigation the male was located and arrested without incident.

At this time, the accused, Saverio Cerra, 47, of Huntsville was charged with:

  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Theft under $5000

Cerra was held in custody and will appear in Bail Court before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge Ontario on October 1, 2025.

Police want to thank all witnesses and advise there is no concern for public safety.
