TWO MAJOR ACCIDENTS THIS WEEKEND IN MUSKOKA CLAIM ONE WOMAN TODAY AND SECOND PERSON AIR LIFTED BY ORNGE TO TORONTO SATURDAY

HUNTSVILLE Accidents 24 hours apart yesterday and today led to one fatality this afternoon and a second person being flown to Toronto Saturday with life-altering injuries, police said tonight.

They say that at 2:11 p.m. Aug. 3 officers were dispatched to a two-vehicle collision on southbound Highway 11 at Allensville Road, involving a Chevy Cobalt and a Honda CRV.

OPP, Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department, and Muskoka Ambulance responded to the collision that closed the highway.

They say there were four occupants of the Honda with three transported to Huntsville Memorial Hospital, with one being air-lifted sent to a trauma Centre in Toronto with life altering injuries.

Another occupant was admitted to hospital.

But a third occupant of the Honda, a 46-year-old woman from Campbellville-Flamborough Township succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The fourth occupant was treated and released from hospital.

The driver of the Chevy Cobalt was treated for minor injuries and released.

The investigation into cause of the collision continues with the assistance of the OPP Central Region Traffic Management Team.

Investigators ask that anyone who may have witnessed the collision or have dashcam video to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or opp.huntsville@opp.ca.

Meanwhile yesterday, August 2, at 2:29 p.m. emergency services responded to a multi-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 60 at Highway 35 in Lake of Bays Township.

Highway closures caused traffic delays of several hours as police investigated.

Three vehicles were identified: a Kia, a Land Rover and a Nissan.

The driver of the Land Rover was airlifted to a Toronto Trauma Centre via Ornge.

And two other involved people suffered minor injuries and were treated and released.

The OPP Technical Collision Investigation unit attended the scene to assist with the investigation.

This is an on-going investigation. There are no updates on any injuries the time of this release.

Police continue to investigate both accidents on the Civic Holiday long weekend in Muskoka that delayed traffic south and east of Huntsville.
